It is there, where a number of these devices have been tested, sold, and considered by government, commercial fleet operators, as well as engine and vehicle manufacturers, in their quest to play their part in lowering harmful toxic vehicle emissions while maximizing the efficiency of their vehicles. The Smart Emissions Reducer has been put through a battery of testing in the last half a decade which included a regiment of testing by Roush Industries, in Lavonia, Michigan. The purposes of these tests were to baseline a vehicle’s emissions and fuel economy numbers without the device applied to the vehicle, then again to trial the vehicle with the device under controlled laboratory conditions. Two sets of vehicles in 2012, 2015, 2016 were sent to the laboratory, all demonstrating consistent results, which showed the device had a positive effect on lowering the vehicles emissions? even up to a 65% reduction in emissions. Fuel efficiency numbers were also compared, with testing revealing up to a 7.5% increase in fuel efficiency on specific year and make models. The Changzhou Keshi Group tested the Smart Emissions Reducer in their lab, located in Jiangsu Providence of China. Extensive testing protocols were practiced in testing the device. Keshi tested the device on Cummings diesel engines that were modified for use by the vehicle manufacturer that specializes in mining equipment and vehicles. Their results demonstrated the Smart Emissions Reducer performed well, with up to 25% reduction in certain emissions and up to 2.5% increase in fuel efficiency. In addition to Roush and Keshi, the Smart Emissions Reducer was tested by FreeCol Labs, via a mass spectrometer test. This particular test verifies the before and after effects of the pollutants and chemical makeup of emissions gases as they entered and exited the device. The tests were very revealing in providing information that the Smart Emissions Reducer has an effect on blowby exhaust gases. The Smart Emissions Reducer has seen a number of realtime pilot program trials and testing in the field. Devices were installed on a number of vehicles, and monitored over a period of 30-60-90 day intervals. Emissions results were recorded as business and municipal fleets would provide the very first series of field trials of the device. The first municipal fleet trial was ran in Andover Township, New Jersey. The next municipality to try the Smart Emissions Reducer was Winnebago County in Illinois, followed by the City of Rockford (IL), Douglas County (OR), and the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PA). These vehicle fleets saw results between a 25% to 75% reduction in emissions as well as fuel efficiency gains? in some cases, up to 12% and 15%. Some of these municipalities opted to purchase the devices used during the pilot program and thereafter. Commercial business fleets to pilot the device, some implemented a plan to retrofit select vehicles throughout their northeast locations. The New York City Taxi and Limo Commission reviewed the device as well, and made it permissible for vehicles under their rulemaking to be retrofitted with the green technology device. Taxi fleets in California also tested the device with much success. The device was also tested on the 602 GM Crate Engine, commonly founded throughout the Northeast dirt track racing circuit. Crate Motor Connection had provided the dyno and tested the engine retrofitted with the device, reporting back that they monitored no adverse findings and with a slight increase in efficiency noticed. With these successes on the books, Extreme Energy Solutions decided it was changing its business model, making the device available to vehicle manufacturers. The choice came in 2014/2015 when the final test results were collected from pilot programs in Jordan that solidified the verdict of the Smart Emissions Reducer’s worthiness. Since then, Extreme Energy Solutions has visited with a number of potential clients/vehicle manufactures headquartered in the United States as well as various other countries including China and Italy. “It was with the end game in mind, that we began our grass roots campaign to commercialize the Smart Emissions Reducer,” commented Samuel K. Burlum, CEO and President of Extreme Energy Solutions, Inc.,“Our vision is to see this device installed at factory level when new vehicle and engines are manufactured. 2016 World Green Energy Symposium Focuses on the Importance of Clean Air, Water, Soil, Food, and Energy

Ms. JoAnn Hill, and Ron Uba, both with the US Department of Commerce, throughout the day would present economic opportunities for entrepreneurs in the room seeking ways to grow their business in partnering with government to solve environmental issues and concerns. Together their department has been credited in providing millions of dollars in contract opportunities to small business.

The importance of clean air, soil and water conservation and better food growth methods was furthered by R. Sonny Ramaswamy, Director with the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, USDA, where he disclosed examples of working projects aimed at lessening our carbon footprint while meeting the needs of a growing population.

Mr. Michael Jones Bae, spoke about the future and how to harness future opportunities within the green tech, environmental, and energy industry sectors as he gave many words of inspiration for students and entrepreneurs attending the conference.

“Look to the future and do not focus on profits, focus on solving problems, and the opportunities to make a profit will reveal themselves,” Bae added.

Attendees also got a fresh perspective on how the US GSA is handling policy, budgets, and practices to green government building and how to maximize their use, presented by Mr. Kevin Kampschroer, Chief Sustainability Officer for US GSA. His expert panel walked attendees through one of the most extensive undertakings; to convert of one of the oldest GSA buildings in the country, into one of the most modern and energy efficient within its building class without compromising the buildings historical significance. Panelist dedicated time to explain the challenges of such and endeavor and how they overcame challenges to make this building a model for other to follow.

Mr. Paul Puckorius, wrapped up the day’s series of events with commentary directed toward water and waste management; where he lent his experience and expertise on ways we all can help in conserving water, and the importance to be mindful of this value resource.

He was followed by Margaret Singleton, Vice President of DC Chamber of Commerce; Tommy Wells, Acting Director, District Department of the Environment, Government of the District of Columbia; and then Dr. O’Hare wrapped up the morning session showcasing the series of steps CAUSE took to develop their sustainable campus. The mid-day panel represented opportunities within federal government and presented case studies; steps and initiatives that government has taken to become even more-green, thus saving taxpayer money in the meantime. Panel was led by Mr. Kevin Kampschroer, from GSA who shared the agency’s green building practices; which including the usage of energy efficiency tech, LEED construction practices, and maximizing space. Ms. Kristine Kingery presented what the Army is doing to become more environmentally friendly in managing its assets and bases around the world. Ms. Jo Anne Hill, with the US Department of Commerce, provided a discussion referencing contract opportunities available for Minority Owned Business Enterprises in the area of sustainability and environmental initiatives by the federal government. The session was concluded by Mr. Landon Van Dyke, with the Department of State, who shared the vision and ongoing practices by the Department of State in greening US Embassies around the world. The afternoon full of workshops; discussions and question and answer sessions from a number of interests: new technology, transportation solutions, the use of big data to monitor energy usage and energy conservation, understanding public private partnerships were just part of the plethora of sessions one could choose from. Two of the workshops that stood out were the discussion lead by Mr. Samuel K. Burlum, CEO of Extreme Energy Solutions, who presented a case study and examples about here and now available technology that could lower harmful toxic emissions from vehicles, including advancements made in this technology sector, and the importance of embracing the retrofit technology market. local and regional deliveries. In addition, four City Municipal Transit buses were retrofitted with the new green technology. The trucks and busses will be monitored for up to 90 days, recording emissions output at every 30 day benchmark. NASCO/Abu Khader will monitor the fuel consumption of these vehicles during that same time. At the end of the 90 days, an official report will be made available of the results

Yasser Fannoun, General Manager of Fannoun Tires, also has partnered with Extreme Energy Solutions, in testing the Smart Emissions Reducer, in Jordan, to help lower fuel consumption and address the concerns about rising pollution problems in the City of Amman.  Fannoun also operates Fannoun for Trade and Transport, a trucking and logistics company, which is the test bed for proving the Smart Emissions Reducer’s ability to help lower emissions.

“It is important to lower air pollution in Amman,” stated Yasser Fannoun, General Manager of Fannoun Tires and Partner in Fannoun for Trade and Transport, “We are looking forward to the fuel economy benefit. We have over 50 trucks, and use over 200,000 liters per month in fuel to operate our fleet; a 15% savings would translate into $10,000 JD (Jordanian Dinar) (equivalent to $14,100 US Dollars) that could be put to use in other areas of our business.”

Currently, vehicle owners expect to pay over $0.92 JD for a liter of gas (equals $ 3.48 per gallon in US Dollars) and $0.97 JD for a liter of diesel fuel in Jordan (equals to $3.67 per gallon).

Over ten transport trucks for Fannoun were retrofitted with the Smart Emissions Reducer by Extreme Energy Solutions, and will be monitored over the next 90 days. Extreme Energy Solutions will return to Jordan each month to assist in testing the emissions of each vehicle. In addition to ten over the road transport trucks, four yellow taxi cabs were also retrofitted with the Smart Emissions Reducer device. These vehicles are under the supervision of Fannoun during the test period.

The City of Amman is experiencing immense growth in its population, and with the boom brings the need for people to travel, adding more vehicles to the road. The demand for vehicles in Jordan is at its highest. With more vehicles on the road, brings the concern of increasing pollution from more vehicle traffic.

Chinas Auto Industry Looks To Adopt New Emissions Technology

Extreme Energy Solutions Inc., A New Jersey Based Environmental Firm Begins Research With Several Chinese Engine And Vehicle Manufacturers To Help Address Their Air Pollution Concerns.

Various Chinese auto manufacturers show serious interest in a new emissions technology offered by Extreme Energy Solutions, a New Jersey based technology company. Extreme’s flagship product, the Smart Emissions Reducer is a relatively new emissions reduction and combustion enhancing technology that is gaining popularity quickly. It has been proven in various reputable laboratories and testing facilities such as Roush Industries, Nova Analytical Systems, Inc., and the Changzhou Keshi Group to reduce emissions substantially and even provide a fuel economy increase as a beneficial side effect.

The Changzhou Keshi Group, a manufacturer of specialty vehicles for the mining industry joined the ranks of some of their industry colleagues including the BAIC Motor Corporation, FAW Jiefang Quingdao Automobile Company and the Weichai Power Company in issuing Letters of Interest/Letters of Intent to Extreme Energy Solutions Inc. Chinas severe pollution concerns are calling for implementation of new emissions reduction technology such as Smart Emissions Reducer (SER).

This rising new green technology will be put to the test in some of the harshest air pollution conditions in the world. With outdoor visibility very low, and many people even wearing masks in public due to air pollution, China is the perfect place to implement such technology.

The applications of the SER are virtually endless. For all internal combustion engines of any fuel type, the SER can help improve the combustion process and reduce the amount of smog and greenhouse gasses being released into populated areas. With government policies aimed to address air pollution, specifically in the transportation sector, engine and vehicle manufactures are in a dire need of a solution to meet new regulatory benchmarks.

To meet this demand, representatives from these Chinese corporations searched far and wide for solutions, only to find themselves in the small town of Ogdensburg, New Jersey. Extreme Energy Solutions, a manufacturer, distributor, and servicer of emissions reduction technology welcomed the delegates with an eagerness to help them solve their pollution concerns.

The first to meet with Samuel K. Burlum, CEO/President of Extreme Energy Solutions, and his team was the Weichai Power Company. Weichai is a publicly traded engine manufacturer of heavy duty diesel power plants that also produces vehicle models such as buses, semi trucks, and service trucks. Weichai visited the New Jersey company in early 2013, and decided to explore further possibilities of partnering with the up and coming green technology firm.

“We were impressed with the Smart Emissions Reducer, and the technology behind it,” noted Tim Chang, Deputy Director of Engine Research and Development, If the products test meets our expectations, we would like to discuss with you a business partnership that would be mutually beneficial to both of us. Currently Weichai and Extreme Energy Solutions are engaged in on going testing to determine the validity of the SER in Weichais applications.

The next manufacturer to investigate the Smart Emissions Reducer was the Keshi Group, a mining industry equipment manufacturer that is located in Changzhou, Jiangsu Provence. The Keshi Group initially partnered with Extreme in November 2013 to test the validity of SER. Mr. Jiang Hanjun, CEO and President of Changzhou Keshi Group, had an opportunity to travel to Ogdensburg, New Jersey with his team to investigate this solution that lowers emissions while increasing fuel efficiency. Keshi is interested in applying this new clean technology to their explosion proof underground mining vehicles.

After meeting with Extreme Energy Solutions’ CEO and President, Samuel Burlum, and the rest of the EES team, Mr. Jiang committed to partnering with Extreme in testing their flagship product, the Smart Emissions Reducer.

“We are very impressed with the product (Smart Emissions Reducer) and are very interested in cooperating
with your company,” commented Mr. Jiang.

The Keshi Group recently concluded testing of the Smart Emissions Reducer this past summer of 2014. Testing results concluded that the Smart Emissions Reducer performed as advertised under controlled laboratory conditions. Preliminary tests would show the SER could provide up to a 5% fuel economy increase on a brand new 5.9 liter Cummings diesel powered engine, and a significant reduction in emissions, more specifically a reduction in particulate matter (PM) of up to 49% and carbon monoxide (CO) of up to 63%.

After further testing conducted by Keshi, the Smart Emissions Reducer proved to deliver consistent emissions reductions between 20% to 50% in all phases of the engines operations, while also still providing a fuel economy benefit of no lower than 2% and 3%. The Keshi Groups testing data was reviewed by Dr. Carley Corrado, Ph.D., with the Department of Physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Dr. Corrado provided commentary on the Statistical Margin of Error within the test report, evaluating the reduction of emissions and improved fuel efficiency by adding the Smart Emissions Reducer onto the new Cummings diesel engine.

“The total emissions averaged over the 6 modes tested in the categories of CO, K/M, and N% were decreased by 22%, 25% and 18% respectively,” noted Dr. Carrado, “There was a decrease in Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) of 2.3%, which is equivalent to the corresponding improvement of fuel efficiency.”

“Conservative projections of the fuel economy savings resulting from the addition of the SER estimates an ROI of 1.2 years and a total of 10,000 liters (2641 gallons) of fuel over the expected lifespan of the SER,” continued Corrado.

Mr. Jiang and Keshi offered to enter into the next phase of the Extreme Energy Solutions Smart Emissions
Reducer evaluation program, and agreed to purchase a small rolling production of the SER devices and have them installed in the field.

“It was a real pleasure to work side by side with Keshis Technicians,” Burlum contributed, “they really appreciated the partnership and they clearly demonstrated that they could quickly embrace the installation process.”

Keshi and EES technicians worked side by side to install the Smart Emissions Reducers over a two day period at a mine in Inner Mongolia on newly deployed Keshi vehicles.

BAIC and FAW are still in talks with Extreme and also look to move forward with the evaluation process. Both BAIC and FAW have invited Extreme back to China to get their cooperative Smart Emissions Reducer programs underway.

The Smart Emissions Reducer, (initially branded as the Intercharger) was first introduced by Extreme Energy Solutions in 2010 to the taxi and delivery vehicle market. It was soon approved for use by the New York City Taxi and Limo Commission. Then it was later tested by Roush Industries on gasoline powered vehicles. Tests in their lab demonstrated the SER could deliver up to a 7.5% increase in fuel efficiency and up to 65% reduction in emissions.

The People of Distinction Humanitarian Foundation names Samuel K. Burlum one of this years Unsung Heros who were honored at the People of Distinction Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at The City University of New York Graduate Center in New York City.

Burlum joins an impressive cast of other honorees including actress Dee Wallace, actor Johnathon Schaech, US Marine Chief Warrant Officer 4 Nick J. DAndrea, Dr. William Karesh, Academy Award winning actress Celeste Holm and several other distinguished individuals who have made a significant contribution to their community and society.

The People of Distinction Humanitarian Foundation is led by author, talk radio host, musician, and public speaker, Al Cole. Cole is a ten year veteran of CBS Radio and wrote the books The Spirit of Romance, and Al Coles Romance for Women. In addition, Cole continues to host his independent radio talk show, People of Distinction.

“Samuel is an incredible human being. He understands how important it is to uplift the human family and has done so with the founding of Extreme Energy Solutions,” Cole offered, “He and his company are doing remarkable things to be of benefit to society.”

“We need more Samuel Burlums in the world, professed Ms. Matty, he is a wonderful young man who leads a company that is providing technology that helps address important societal concerns.He cares about his community, country, and fellow man,” continued Matty, “his story is inspiring and is one that needs to be told.”

Sam Burlum is the CEO and President of Extreme Energy Solutions of Ogdensburg, New Jersey, a company which researches, develops, manufactures, markets, and services green technology. Burlum created many company policies aimed to establish his company as a positive influence in the community. Under Burlums leadership, the company vowed in 2011 that the majority of its products would be Made in the USA, thereby contributing to the much needed job growth of the country. The company also created a policy to give preference to veterans during the hiring process. Today 70% of the Extreme Energy Solutions staff and leadership are veterans.

Burlum has spoken at various colleges and universities, sharing his knowledge and insight in a multitude of areas including entrepreneurship and business management and has offered technical advisement for other cademic related activities. Professor Dr. Lovely Thornton, of Towson University, had Samuel Burlum speak to her students on diversity in business. “His global exposure and position as president of Extreme Energy Solutions has served as a great frame of reference as he shared his vision and path to success,” noted Thornton.

Sam Burlum and his staff provided sponsorship and advisement to the Clarkson University Clean Snowmobile Team during the 2013 SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge. Clarkson used the Smart Emissions Reducer in that years competition, which led to the team winning first place in the fuel economy challenge. Later in the year, Extreme teamed up with KAUST University in Saudi Arabia to address the air pollution concerns in their country.

Burlum has served a number of organizations including the Informal Business Owners Group of Northern Jersey (a not­for­profit club) as an officer­secretary (2014) and served as Board Secretary for the Spirit of the Arts Foundation (a 501c3) in 2012 and 2013, led by Director and Chair, Sandy Mitchell.

“This man does not know the meaning of quit,” Mitchell shared at a gathering in 2012 at Extremes headquarters, “we really appreciated his contribution. He was a real asset to SOTA.”

Beverly White, CEO/President of the consulting firm, BKW Transformations has also worked with Burlum and even shared the stage with him at The Councils Sustainability Summit in 2012.

Other people have offered a vote of confidence in Samuel Burlum as well. An automotive industry legend, former CEO and Chairman of Chrysler, Lee Iacocca, wrote a letter to Mr. Burlum citing, “that your (Burlum) resume is impressive.”

Sam Burlum and his company were also honored in 2013 by the World Green Energy Symposium as the winner of the 2013 NOVA Award. On behalf of Extreme Energy Solutions, Burlum was also presented a proclamation by Passaic Valley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 181 naming Extreme as Passaic Countys 2013 Company of the Year in the area of Professional Environmentally Friendly Energy Products.

Burlum, a graduate of Berkeley College, with a degree in business management, also lends his expertise to other emerging businesses that need advisement. He has provided commentary for a number of public policy measures and advocates for small business as a member of the Leadership Council­National Small Business Association.

Burlum was also featured on Today in America, hosted and Narrated by NFL Football Legend Terry Bradshaw, which aired nationwide on the Discovery Channel and other major networks.
